To understand the impact of plastic pollution, 5 Gyres studies the 5 subtropical gyres by sailing through them and organize research expeditions. 5 Gyres communicates about the global impact of plastic pollution and employs strategies that work to eliminate it.

The Union For Concerned Scientists

The Union for Concerned Scientists work to develop and implement innovative, practical solutions to some of our planet’s most pressing problems including global warming. Water1st believes poor people are their own best resource in escaping poverty. Through consistent support, listening, involving community members and, in particular, women, in the process, Water1st funds effective solutions based on local priorities.

Oceanites and The Antarctic Survey

Oceanites is a nonprofit, science and educational foundation, intended to foster the conservation of the world’s oceans, islands, and their wildlife. Oceanites major scientific project is the Antarctic Site Inventory, which began collecting and compiling baseline biological and physical data and descriptive information in 1994.

Chris Jordan and The Midway Project

Chris Jordan is an environmental artist whose works are created from photographs of garbage and mass consumption. Jordan uses everyday commonalities such as a plastic cup and defines the blind unawareness involved in American consumerism. The MIDWAY media project is a journey into one of the environmental tragedies of our time: The deaths by starvation of thousands of albatrosses who mistake floating plastic trash for food. Spurred by the knowledge of our impact, we are inspired to find a way forward.

Oceania: Encounters at the Edge

The film OCEANIA: Encounters at the Edge is a cinematic investigation of shifting land and sea. The film examines cultural, psychological and ecological phenomena along Pacific shorelines, beginning with the Island Republic of Kiribati. Here, a diverse and often underrepresented population is given a voice. Contrasting human time with geological processes, we reflect on humankind's connection to the ocean - as we fathom our shared future.
